Absolutely lovely experience. Very European feel with amazing homemade food. Everything is to die for! The place has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a quaint supermarket area. Hello! Dom here, your local Chicago guide, I visited Smilga, shop and bakery here in Darien, and I did not know this place existed until I asked some pickleball friends around. And My experience here was great, the staff was amazing, explained a lot of things on the menu in great detail and went above and beyond. I tried multiple things from here like their chicken cutlet with mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce, the food was amazing, portions are massive!! Though my mother is Lithuanian, I didn’t inherit her wonderful cooking skills so therefore I don’t get to have good authentic food as often as I’d like, especially now that I live in the rural Midwest. But walking in here felt like I was back in Klaipeda. The food was amazing, and everyone was super friendly and very nice about me letting speak in my now-rusty Lithuanian. The store selection was incredible as well, so many great finds that I haven’t had since I was a kid. Next time I’m in the Chicago area, I will definitely be making it ...
